State’s Attorney

The State’s Attorney Office prosecutes crimes that take place in Stutsman County and advises the County Board, County Department heads and Township Boards on issues pertaining to their duties in offices.

Fritz Fremgen was elected State’s Attorney in 2000. He has been a prosecutor in Stutsman County since 1995 and was a U.S. Army Judge Advocate before that.

The office currently has three full-time attorneys on staff.

Victim Witness Program

The Stutsman County Victim Witness Program is a specialized unit of the State’s Attorney’s office. Its primary duty is to act as a liaison between the crime victims and the criminal justice system. Assistance and information are given to victims and witnesses as the criminal case moves through the criminal justice process pursuant to the North Dakota Fair Treatment Standards Acts.

North Dakota SAVIN is the Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification service that provides free, confidential notifications about an offender’s custody status and court case information to victims, their families, and concerned citizens.
