January 26th, 2024 – The total mill levies for Jamestown Public School District included on the 2023 Real Estate and 2024 Mobile Home Tax Statements mailed in December 2023, are incorrect. An extra levy of 3.25 mills was inadvertently included on the original statements. Amended statements were mailed on January 24-25, 2024.
If you have already made your payment(s) on any parcels within Jamestown Public School District, you will be receiving a refund check for the overpayment. You may calculate the approximate amount of your refund or difference between the two statements by taking the net taxable value of your property from the amended statement and multiplying it by 0.00325. The taxable value is found on the left-hand side of the tax statement, about 2/3 of the way down the page. Below is an example of the calculation on a residence and commercial or agricultural land parcel with a true and full value of $150,000.
- Residential parcel: $6,750 taxable value x 0.00325 (3.25 mills) = $21.94
- Commercial or Ag parcel: $7,500 taxable value x 0.00325 (3.25 mills) = $24.38
If you have applied for Homestead or Veteran’s Credit or have an approved abatement with the Auditor’s Office, your statement will be amended again to reflect the change. If you have made your payment on any parcel with a pending abatement application, you may receive more than one refund check.
